A blessing about this trail for our family is we can take out of it what we want. We can look at it positively or negatively. The pain of it comes and goes. I can go for quite a few days without feeling any bitter emotions and then 2 or 3 days in a row of kleenex filled garbage cans....and then back to things as if nothing has changed. Then the cycle starts all over again.
I saw a blog and thought I'd share it with you. I don't know the person who wrote it, but the positive outlook about this trial for me, of my Mom being sick, is that I (we) can learn how to help others in their trials. Help really doesn't have to be complicated. It can be in the forms she's already received ie... phone calls, notes of encouragement, a plate of goodies for the guys, a hug and "It's going to be alright". The every day tasks are the things (I'm finding out) that people usually need help with. If they're not functioning with these, there is something wrong in the home. Doing dishes, mowing lawns, running a small errand, shopping for a few items at the store or watching children for a few minutes helps greatly. Service doesn't have to be long and drawn-out or hard. I hope I can see past what is being said and just DO.
These pictures are from this unknown person's blog. What would your sign say? What does my Mom's sign say? What does my Dad's sign say? More importantly, what could your friends' sign say? It put things in perspective more.
